Conference Description
Considering the diverse musical scene in Mississippi, this year's theme is "Harmonies of Language, Culture, and Learning: Tuning in to Student Success." This conference comes to life at the Sheraton Flowood The Refuge Hotel & Conference Center in Flowood, Mississippi, January 29-31, 2026.
AMTESOL 2026 will highlight diverse voices and experiences of our English language learners. Sessions will expose attendees to information that helps them navigate language acquisition, build inclusive learning communities and partnerships, and harmonize assessment and instruction for student growth. Just like the mighty Mississippi River that has shaped cultures and connected communities for generations, our conference celebrates the rich tapestry of cultures and languages that enrich our classrooms.

AMTESOL 2026 brings together educators from Mississippi and Alabama to create a powerful network of support for teaching English to speakers of other languages across our region. We celebrate the shared commitment of two states working together to enhance educational outcomes for multilingual students.
Presentations should consider these questions

How can educators support the natural progression of language acquisition that develops both foundational and academic language skills?
-

-

-
What collaborative practices effectively connect families, schools, and communities to promote the holistic development of English Learners?

Key Information for Sumbissions
In-person conference
Please note that AMTESOL 2026 is an IN-PERSON conference, so virtual or pre-recorded video presentations will not be accepted.
Conference registration
All presenters of an accepted presentation must register for the conference before or on the end date of Early Bird Registration. AMTESOL thanks all presenters for their participation but presenters do pay full price for their Early Bird Registration. AMTESOL keeps its conference fees as low as possible.

Non-U.S. presenters
If you live outside of the USA and require a visa, please note that AMTESOL is NOT a visa-issuing entity. In our experience, the US government does not typically issue visas for small, regional conferences such as AMTESOL. Also, the timeframe from acceptance until the conference is typically too tight to receive a visa.
